The Japanese Akashikita High School is coming for a cultural exchange and to perform in the Rose Parade December 28, 2007 through the morning of January 3, 2008.  The band consists of 180 members.  In addition to the Rose Parade performance, they will perform in a Green Band Festival on January 2, 2008.  Greener Planet Movement, which sponsors this tour, is a non-profit organization devoted to making a positive difference to the natural environment internationally, and proceeds from the concerts will be donated to a local charity to be determined based on current needs.  Funds are also shared with participating students from the local schools to promote music programs at their schools.  The band will need to have access to the participating school’s facilities for practices and the Green Band Festival during their stay.

During the band’s stay the band is soliciting host families with whom the band members can stay.  Placement in student homes provides an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange and friendships to occur.  Placement approval is subject to minimum requirements:

1.    Host parent(s) must be present in the home while the band member is present.
2.    Hosted band members must be provided their own bed or futon.  Host families are responsible for providing meals and transportation to and from the learning center for the hosted band member.
3.    Host families will be asked to provide breakfast and dinner for the student(s) each day.
